grow the people and the work, at the same time
4 + 3managers grown, in my team and across teams
5editions of D4

A team can't grow unless people have room to grow into, and the right people come to fill it.

I helped make Intuit visible as a good place for designers to work, built early-career hiring with design institutes, and seeded new teams in the Small Business and Self-Employed group.

How
Find the work first.
Hire early, with the schools.
Grow managers and teams.
Find the work first.New teams were seeded where the business needed them, so people had real problems to grow into.
Hire early, with the schools. We worked with design institutes to build early-career hiring into the org.
Grow managers.I grew four managers in my team, and helped three more, who didn't report to me, grow and be promoted.
